I just had a realization: this book is like reading "I Am Number Four" from the Mogadorian perspective. Killing a limited number of "others" in an attempt to rid them from Earth. But the Mogs in this case...are humans. Probably more copying a la James Frey.

Isidore reminds me of the boy from "Boy in the Striped Pajamas." His innocence leaves him oblivious to what he's witnessing.

Not the best start when a sentence on the first page says "a myriad of reasons." You mean "myriad reasons", correct? An author should know that...

I'm enjoying this book, like really enjoying it, but I can't seem to read more than 40 pages without getting distracted. It's more of a snack book than a meal to devour.

Oh my god. Atticus is a racist. At least, by today's standards. In 1950s Alabama, he's downright progressive.

Remember when this book was interesting? (That'll make you laugh when you read it). I don't get her Uncle Jack--snooze alert!

If a man tells you "this is the truth", and you believe him, and it is not, then you are disappointed. But if a man has lived that truth, and you have believed in what he lived, when he fails you, he leaves you with nothing. This is a great (paraphrased) thought, a horrible thought. And a core concept of this book.

This lack of sex Ed sounds reasonably similar to what kids learn, or rather don't learn, in today's country schools. Some things never change.

Scout's reaction to Atticus' change of heart (if it is one. I'm withholding judgment) mirrors that of the reader. That intrigues me.
