This stretch of the book was awful to read. There was about 25 pages of not much plot and a lot of sex, most of which involved two 20-somethings having a threesome with a 15-year-old boy. The book has always been super progressive about sexuality (especially for the mid-70s), but the presentation of this as not being a big deal wasn’t cool.

I finally got past the point where I left off three years ago, woooo

I can’t handle how into this book I already am. It’s indescribable how great it feels to be immersed in this universe again, and with such a strong comeback. I already care deeply for Malcolm, and I see so much of myself at that age in him. Plus, he stands wonderfully as an antithesis to Lyra’s rowdy, fiery personality.
