Interlude – The First and Last of Us

Human women are lotteried onto an alien ship. FMC makes out with hot alien Admiral. There is a very believable misunderstanding. She reacts a little bit dramatically. They talk it out. Hot interspecies sex happens. HEA. It was good it was just too easy.

I liked the book but there were so many "yeah, no" instances!

The Monkeys just started a civil war to keep a single ship from visiting Earth. Skippy's gone cold. There's no way home.

Hamsters 'invade' Earth and destroy industry but not cities. Earth allies with the Lizards who seemingly chase them off. Turns out the Hamsters were trying to help and the Lizards are not our friends. MC stumbles upon millions-of-years-old AI who helps the humans in exchange for finding the even more advanced beings from whence the AI came. Engaging and exciting and the AI is pretty funny.

He drugs her then friendly rapes her. She seems unbothered. I don't like it.

The spicy scenes in each book so far are exactly the same and that's weird.

Halrac and the Silver Swords et al did find a laboratory and a library at Albez and were double-crossed by low lvl teams. There's hope they can cut them off at the Inn as they flee to the new lands. In Liscor, Facestealer climbs out of the dungeon for 11 minutes of terror, Colth the Supporter reveals he has ties to Pisces's former slave master Dijinn. Also, the bees have finally been released!

Um. They eat sentient beings as a matter of course. I don't feel okay about that.

Ceria sends most of the Gold ranks and Named ranks on a goose chase to Albez while the Horns and Colth head back into Liscors dungeon. Using The Unseen Empires totems they find some as-yet-unknown rooms in the Abez dungeon. Pisces is persuaded to explore the new lands by Azkeresh and though he tries to dissuade his team (for their safety) it looks like they're going to go with him.

I loved this whole series except for this book. I can’t even finish it. I’ll be back for the next one.
