I don't know why I'm struggling so much with this book. It has so many elements that I thought I would enjoy but I'm out here doing everything BUT sitting down and reading. I'm cleaning out my emails rather than reading it.... Why??

So far I've completely sobbed through the first 3 essays.... And it's not just because I'm having one of the worst pain days ever. 😭

(I do wish they had done trigger warnings for each essay though...)

I was really excited by the celiac rep but the author has the character with celiac ordering from Starbucks... And not even asking them to clean the machines or anything. I can tell this was NOT written from personal experience 😭

Completely switching up the plot and turning the third book in a series into a story about slavery… I can’t tell if that’s genius or a waste. We shall see how it goes!

OK now he's saying that Annette Kellerman (in 1905) was the world's first sex symbol. Source??

I think there's actually an interesting debate to be had here but I seriously doubt a real historian would make this kind of generalization. And in 1905, really? I'm sure you could argue that hundreds of people before 1905 could reasonably hold that title.

I was already irritated by the author's broad generalizations and the fact that he got sidetracked before even beginning Trudy's story but now I'm getting hit by massive ableism. This is such fun. /sarcasm

So far these characters are just annoying me lol

I'm enjoying this a lot but most of the characters are just... so stupid. Ha.

It pains me to say it but this book is extremely bland.

OK but if Fanny isn't the murderer it'll be a crying shame.
