Wow not as far as I thought I was

I've been listening to this book for ages... as in i've gotten partway in and trailed off. i've lost the plot but i generally liked it. it just wore on my after a bit. i'll finish eventually.

“To paraphrase Oedipus, Hamlet, Lear, and all those guys,” I said, “I wish I had known this some time ago.”

and ready to be done. a great concept gets lost in a sorta weak plot.

Getting a little unfocused. At this point it feels like he threw together a bunch of previously scrapped ideas, and then had his main character shoot them, crunch them under his boot, or flying high kick them.

maybe i'll come back to it after sign of the unicorn, see if i can't make any progress.

What I love about this series the brazen, unabashed way that he clearly doesn't give a fuck (in the best way possible)

Wow this book took a huge downturn. Like from being a page turner to a chore.

as much as i complain about it, i keep turning pages. it's not my favorite, but it's readable... thinking of stephen king's review.

amazing how quick you can get through a short book on a slow day at work

this is a fun book. it doesnt take itself to seriously. reminds me a bit of ready player one but without the need to be all meta and self-referential. it's going very quickly, but i've heard the second half drags.

sloppy is a good word for it. like, someone who had a really cool dream but completely lacks the depth of literary ability needed to put it on the page. that and it's clearly battle royale.

it's simplistic, and the story's been done better elsewhere, but it's not horrendous. i'm moving through it but i don't envision more than 3 stars.
