Ok I might be getting in to it a bit...

i want to like this more than i do. it's a little bland? but again i blame the reader.

"jabber" is a dumb fake swear word.

i'm not sure why it took me until now, but it is actually kinda starting to grab me. it makes a bit more sense now and i see what he's trying to do. it's still longer than it should be, and i've heard the ending is dreadful but who knows.

so... basically it's "little shop of horrors"

picking it up again, true to my word. we'll see if i can finish.

if anything, i'm regretting buying it on audible, because it looks, and the trilogy ebook i have is absolutely beautifully done. for now tho, i'm invested. perhaps i'll read the sequels the old fashioned way.

i'm intrigued but i fear i'm not following it well yet. something about the guy who reads it maybe? like as soon as he starts talking i start thinking about other stuff.

i hope i'm not going to be the guy who winds up with 20 books on his currently reading bc i keep starting and stopping them. that settles it: after sign i'll finish perdido. after mistborn i'll finish against the day.

i'm pretty sure he made some of these characters up just to mess with the audio reader-- for example, a belgian japanese woman. funnily enough, he nails it.
