ok it got a little weird

bumped this up to 1.25x in order to hopefully finish faster. i'm curious where he's going with this but frankly just not that interested.

good news -- more spiders
bad news -- i'm starting to think the spiders are an allegory

the more i listen to this, the more my opinion solidifies: the spider bit is the only fun part, even as it passed up plausible believability a while ago. I just can't imagine what's left in the remaining two thirds of this book. I'll keep going but i want to see some hardcore spider redwall action here

It’s surprising how all of the weird old words from the Howling Dark are showing up in this book. Sabretache, peltast, etc. Another strong influence?

i feel like i read soooo much of this on my trip and yet i'm barely over the halfway line. the book is good/bad but also like, why is it soooo long

This is good and bad in dynamic equilibrium. I like it a lot, but it’s so transparently derivative. But also epic and counterintuitively original? The settings in particular are inspiring.

ive been trying to think what the setting reminds me of; it's Destiny, a game i only barely played.
