I know Lewis said the the first few chapters weren’t exactly what the synopsis promised or whatever but I have no idea what is happening. They mentioned Weston but that’s the only connection so far and it’s boring

So this is starting off with a bang oh man

I wondered who would marry Shavw if she’s the “Mr. Collins” of the story. It works and makes me think in the original story that Mary and Mr. Collins would have worked

This is getting intense

But while he was thinking this, as suddenly and sharply as if the solid darkness about him had spoken with articulate voice, he knew that Maleldil was not absent… that it had never been absent, that only some unconscious activity of his own had succeeded in ignoring it for the past few days.

This isn’t an exact retelling but I can trace the inspiration from Pride and Prejudice

I did not know this was sorta in second person? It’s first person but like the reader is the character they’re talking to?? I don’t know

Why though

Like it get it’s a trope or whatever for people to be oblivious and not think their neighbor or friend or whoever is a superhero or a villain but NEITHER of them have entertained the thought that the other could be their enemy? Not with certain things matching like PTSD or green eyes or the fact that “Holly” shows up in town AT THE SAME TIME AS Catwoman???

Listening to Amy talk about Parks and Rec makes me want to rewatch Parks and Rec… again
