Look, this book isn't bad. The Celtic lore is dope. Maggie's writing is great. That cover is gorgeous. Merida is a fantastic character. I just don't think I care enough about a sequel to Brave to care about this book

Am I going to attempt to reread this before the Amazon Prime show comes out? Yes, yes, I am.

I love that I understand some of these mythology references from reading Rick Riordan Presents books.

Love the Smaug voice. It seems like Andy Serkis took slight inspiration from his cast members for the characters but also made them his own. I hear hints of Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch and Richard Armitage and even Lee Pace.

The guards were virtually impregnable behind their vulcanized shield—but virtually didn’t account for Wookiees.

Flies and Spiders is such a fun chapter. I wish the movie had done it better

Flashes from her infancy assaulted her—distorted visions of running… a beautiful woman… hiding in a trunk.

I always thought it was odd that Leia remembered her mother but this is just not accurate either xD like before maybe it was the Force helping her or something but they changed their ideas when they made episodes 1-3

Some of these character interactions are super cringe but at least this is more interesting (somehow) than book one so far…

My problem with this book is it doesn’t have a clear plot. Yes there’s conflict. Yes Parvin has the goal to record her experience. But there isn’t like… a clear end goal? Like it’s just following her from one thing to the next and it’s tedious and s bit too far out there

God hates broken shalom. He won’t leave us in it forever. He plans something more for us.

I like the concept but this isn’t as thrilling as I expected it to be
