If I could classify a book as performance art, this would be it. My brain is in a constant state of anxiety, constantly waiting for the next surprise. I'm in love and in hate. It's a constant emotional reaction. I simultaneously want to beat the book with a lead pipe and snuggle up next to it and comfort it. This isn't prose, it's poetry with a narrative. I'm in love.

It's like performance art. But in a book. I'm loving this in ways I never expected and enjoying the weird more than I can describe

Loving how this book is simultaneously fantastical and yet grounded in reality. It's like listening to a grandfather tell tales of what was. In amongst the facts, you're also getting a fairytale. It's a grand soap opera so far, and while some characters get short shrift, I'm enjoying the journey

Nearly halfway in and it's brilliant, epic, entrancing. And contains three major continuity errors all revolving around the same damned character. Bring me a red pen and hire me as a beta reader, Mr. Sanderson! My inner editor is screaming and gnashing her teeth. Clearly, I missed my calling

Spending my summer rereading the Discworld series, the lexicon of all that is funny, bizarre, and oddly true. Well, at least all of what I still have. Never a book lender nor a borrower be, unless you trust the person to return your stuff or they live somewhere you can hunt them down and beat them with your shoe until they give up the goods

I pretty much gave up on anything smelling of "romance" years ago, but I make an exception for Moning, who is, quite frankly, hilarious. And I can't help it, because she stacks up elements of real Celtic folklore, a whole bunch of paranormal goodies, a slew of mysteries, and a couple of heroes you wouldn't mind coming into contact with, so long as you were armed with a frying pan and a good aim at their heads

Just as I'm thinking of the Fool and Fitz, they appear! Or at least, memories of them, proof positive of their passage within Kelsingra. It warmed my heart to see the threads of so far flung a story overlapping, if only in passing. Perhaps because this installment seems to be moving so slowly and revealing only small, tantalizing glimpses of the larger tapestry

As much as I enjoy the The Rain Wilds Chronicles in and of themselves, there's a part of me constantly expecting my beloved Fool to peer out at me somewhere, or even Fitz, who may have earned his retirement from the world, but what is this world without a Farseer accidentally protecting it? I feel like these people need to intertwine somewhere. After all, this is all Fool's fault.

Rereading in the hopes of getting through the 1000+ page tome before the release of the second in the series. Other books are falling by the wayside. Need more Szeth

Stephen King is a prick. The breaking of the ka-tet was bad enough, and while I've always known "there can only be one" to steal a phrase from another corner if geekdom, it ain't right to have them shuffling off the damned mortal coil quite so quickly. You've barely caught your breath from one and he's gone and knocked off another. Complete and total prick, say thank-ya
