I am loving the politics and magic in this book!

The last act breakup is happening way too late for any sensible pacing of get-back-together scenes.

Sounds like he was a creepy sex addict who never considered his partners before this, because...as was evident at the beginning of the book, he objectifies women.

This man hasn't gone out of his way to do anything yet the female character keeps talking about how amazing he is and how he's the best man she's ever met. What?? He doesn't volunteer. He's just a famous musician? ??? I don't get it.

The Villain has arrived, entirely unwanted and unnecessary. There was plenty of conflict without this cartoonish plot introduced.

I think the plot of the book might be "love bombing will fix everything", which is an interesting hypothesis.

I feel like the author remembered he's British halfway through the book.

If a man said these lines to me I would mace him. The "banter" is just...too straight? Too weird for me?

I am still absolutely losing my mind that this woman pitched a fit about being "called a whore" or "thinking I'm a prostitute" when this is an actual line she says, "You need a girlfriend. I am a professional." HELP! the cognitive dissonance!! the denial!! mess.

I think this author is from a conservative/"traditional" background with little exposure to progressive/diverse thoughts.

If this woman is so kind and great, why does she have NO friends? And the male sees women as sex objects exclusively. Icky people.

I might have to DNF, this lady is certifiable. She is very emotionally unstable.

Spoilers - This chick gets paid to be people's friends (including escort work that she refuses to acknowledge as such because she hates sex workers -she's BETTER than them, of course), and then she freaks out about having no "real" friends. Lady, you commodified it! You're the one shutting people out.

This woman is against sex work while she's basically doing the same thing, like what a lot of sex workers do... I don't like this conservative holier-than-thou attitude.

Author/main female character seems to be against sex workers... ugh this author is giving white republican vibes.

"her denim eyes"... like....no. lol there is so much obsession with describing bodies and physical appearance in here, like these people are cattle to be sold to this author.

This seems like a light read.

I like these characters in ways that I have struggled to like characters in a lot of recent books; it's refreshing.
