It's painfully obvious that Landon and Lucas are the same person but the narrator is clueless, making this an obnoxious source of predictable "suspense" for the reader. I don't think this is adding anything positive to the book.

It cracks me up that this author's idea of a "bad boy" is a college student who works at Starbucks but who has tattoos and non-preppy hair. Pearl clutching behavior to be sure.

I will be glad to be done with this book. It seems to want to redeem a character who I do not want to be redeemed.

If Harrow and Gideon are romantic at some point in this book, I consider that slave romance. It's not good with me. I might be out...

The humor is very try-hard millennial which grates similarly to Fourth Wing's. Also, the worldbuilding is nonsense. We don't know where we are. Sometimes we're living like its the 1600s, other times we have modern equipment. Why? How? What is happening? Why are characters named such weird things? I'm not committing any of them to memory.

I really don't like this author seems to be trying to humanize someone holding another person in bondage. The power dynamics are awful and yet it's clear the reader is supposed to find the quasi-slaver fun? I'm not good with this...
