MMC is an easyyy yes for me from page 1.
Magic system is unlike anything I’ve read. At first it seemed very… labour intensive? Inconvenient?
But I totally get it now and I just had to adjust my perspective of uses for magic to catch up.

First 48% - world building or at least scaffolding. I was definitely interested and hooked - like where could this possibly be going?
50% mark - holy shit. I don’t know if other people saw that coming but I DID NOT.
Now I am unwaveringly invested.
Have been unsure whether I like the FMC or not up until this point. But I think I’ve gotten there now.

Jeff Hayes is simply masterful

The world building is… oddly… far from the worlds they’re building and dismantling. And the times and strands we’re weaving in and out of are just very confusing background noise.

The concept of these threads is so interesting but I am Struggling - capital S - to wrap my brain around the world. I don’t know if my inexperience with sci-fi makes me dumb and is the problem or if the world building is just kind of shit.
