I like the parts about her self-reliance b/c I relate. I didn't find my parents to be reliable and so I learned, grew, to do things on my own. Interesting, not much detail, but it gives a picture of her childhood and the forces that shaped her. Princeton was a really big deal, & makes total sense. Nice to have that clout. Spanish Puerto Rican culture runs deep with her. I think this is solid for the people of America. She's got a solid character.

It was obvious that Merrow was too one thing to be really that thing—just don’t get why author played him along as some expert actor who could conceal his intents & acts; lot of the book feels conveniently molded to this magical ability to converse w/ghosts; like the pace, really moves across no more than seven days, just scooby-dooish w/Ben being & seeing everywhere
