Done! The final chapter on extinction are particularly interesting methodologically. I do wish the epilogue were a full fledged chapter, but I suppose there are other books on the early paleocene. I appreciate the healthy notes section.

The T. Rex chapter has some truly unsettling stats. I do wish they'd go a bit more into methods; after my readings on paleopathology I'm hesitant to accept extreme outliers without considering possible issues of measurement and analysis.

Done! The rest is an impressive volume of notes and bibliography. Reading the hangover chapter intersected nicely with my readings on the psychopharmacology of benzodiazepenes.

The chapter in cultural alcohol scripts is AMAZING.

I did not expect there to be this much mycology in a book about booze. This is a pleasant surprise!

The section on sugar and fermentation have me wanting to revisit some local breweries to see what they're up to. This is dangerous.

The yeast chair was a surprisingly fun review of historical microbiology. While I always wish for even more detail, is a good overview.

Done! I particularly liked the Katrina story - the imagery and mythos building make it felt particularly vivid. In general, this has been a very enjoyable read!

Done!

I like the ethos of the book, but wish the ideas were more developed. The recurrent sexism of 80's therapy and reliance on psychoanalytic ideas is frustrating. I'm curious about how other texts using this approach address these issues.

I like the way change is being approached here, and the reverence for naturally occurring growth and change. Humility is a challenge when one is invested in their skill as a therapist.

I do have to criticize the suggestion that a couple's problems could be reduced to the female partner's menstrual cycle making her irrational; we don't need to perpetuate a sexist example from 50's.
