I've never played D&D and know little about it. That doesn't seem to matter much yet, Laycock does a great job explaining the experience of the game, if not exactly the game itself. I am very interested in moral panics, so I have high expectations for this book

It hadn't been my intention but this saga goes well with the manga Vinland Saga

I ever so faintly recall the movie, but I only watched it once as a young teenager. The book is off to a great start, feels like new.

This series alone makes me happy to have given in and finally tried manga. It's been a rather unpleasant selection so far, with even the runner up being a middling effort amid the tsunami of insane male sex fantasies and adolescent plots, but this one looks so far like it will stand the test of time.

This narrative grows increasingly absurd.

Better than the last Pálsson translation I read

Much more cartoonish than the other few manga I've read, but I am feeling a much better connection with the story. It's always interesting to get an Eastern take on a Western story, like Ran by Kurosawa, though in this case it's firmly situated in its European milieu

Lots of sex and violence, but still a pretty fun read.

It's a shame that a book which could have attacked the notion of European supremacy chose instead to fortify Eurocentrism by making the success of the Inca conquerors of Europe reliant on European innovations rather than simply allowing the Inca to develop their own technology. It just furthers the racist and easily-proven-false idea that white people invent, everyone else copies.
