Excellent, a must-read

Anyone know the difference between Hiestand/Wilson's "Pastor Theologian" and Vanhoozer/Strachan's "Pastor as Public Theologian?"

Confusing...so far "The Nature of Religious Language" is my favourite essay but there Tillich denies the Virgin Birth.

Profound. Mills is making a powerful case for men with same-sex desires to participate in marriage with women.

Excellent so far. Every Christian should read this.

Oh how I dislike it when you realize someone's been deleting the quotes you save on Goodreads.

Steiner frustrates me like Lewis does in "The Four Loves" by relying so heavily on a Western canon/celebrated works that are no longer obvious to contemporary readers. I love his remark that much of college/university classes are dominated by trendy, fleeting writers and his extensive criticism of secondary literature (reviews, articles, responses from different perspectives, etc...).

I'm looking for books on Divine self-limitation. I've been told Moltmann writes on this but can anyone recommend any books (by him or others)? Thanks!

Painfully repetitive.

Sections XII and XIII are the best.

I cringed while watching "Fight Church" but remarkably clergy have been using fighting as an evangelistic tool for a while...the Catholic Youth Organization used boxing tournaments to "keep kids off the streets."

The first two chapters are a slog as Kimbrough discusses poetic theory and the use of psalms and spiritual poetry (good stuff, but fairly obvious if you've ever thought about that sort of stuff before). Just get to Charles' hymns!

Bultmann, K. Barth, Pannenburg, an unofficial observer at Vatican II in 1965 - Thomas Oden has lived a fascinating life! This memoir does an exceptionally excellent job of charting Oden's shifting in thought and methodology.
