Alex Strohschein is on page 122 of 306 of Salvation with a Smile: Joel Osteen, Lakewood Church, and American Christianity
As I read this book I can't help reading Joel Osteen quotes without visualizing his grin and hand gestures and reading with Joel's measured pauses between sentences.

This is a great book - I think it might become my favourite book on Canadian history.

Cavanaugh's contrast of the pilgrim vs. the tourist is excellent; the pilgrim sees others as fellow children of God whereas the tourist seeks the exotic and the different.

Does anyone know of any books that critique the missional church/community movement?

People of Goodreads, I've misplaced a quote. I recall, I believe, C.S. Lewis writing about the possibility of the Devil ending up in Heaven but experiencing the divine love as "Hell." Sound familiar to anyone? Can someone point me to the passage?

Alex Strohschein is on page 82 of 274 of The Church in the Canadian Era
On page 80, Grant notes that the introduction of grape juice over wine in communion (advocated by temperance-minded Christians) inevitably led to the emergence of the individual cup. Interestingly to think how this shift from common cup to personal cup actually UNDERMINES communion as a communal sacrament and how it fosters religious individualism.

Really appreciated Jim Samra's discussion on a theology of technology. I worried this book would focus solely on doctrinal theology but Samra's contribution represents an important topic in modern society and the need for interdisciplinary studies.

I didn't realize Dark Empire was such an early EU work. Timothy Zahn really disliked Dark Empire.

Apparently Lucas was talking about midicholorians as early as 1977.

Very surprised that Hans Boersma seems fairly ambivalent about ECT.
