Kind of hard to get through the first quarter of this short story with the trigger-y storyline. Just waiting to get to the revenge part but it looks like I’m on the way towards it already.

I’ve learned my lesson, always speak up in book club meetings and give input as to what to read next. These ladies are trying to give me nightmares with book choices like this. Now, I remember why I haven’t chosen another book like this since I read Truman Copote’s “In Cold Blood.”

Sooooooo, I don’t know how people read books like this all the time. It’s traumatic, especially, with all of the victim’s stories, the detective’s/cop’s insight, and the evidence interpreted into a broader “picture” of the Golden State Killer. It makes me feel like nowhere is safe and that I must be on high alert at all times. I already have anxiety so that doesn’t help.
