I like Glokta the same way I like Moe from The SImpsons: he's clearly a bad person, he's not particularly likeable...but there's just so much pain underneath that I can't help but feel bad for the guy.

And that right there is when I realized I really like Logen.

This feels like Jorge Luis Borges's Aleph had a baby with Gormenghast. It's weird, eerie and I love it! So trippy!

Third time's the charm. Third time trying to read a Clavell book after two DNF. Here goes nothing

So far, I just gotta say: Benedict Cumberbatch as Mr. Parnassus and Martin Freeman doing his Bilbo acting as Linus Baker.

Just started Part 4: The Golden Age. It's funny. I haven't had much time to read, so I feel myself winding down and almost abandon the book altogether. But just when I'm ready to call it quits, I start reading again and I'm hooked all over again.

The whole description of Rabbe Shpilman is a masterwork of wry comedic genius.

"It would require the brain strength of the eighteen greatest sages in history to reason through the arguments against and in favor of classifying the rebbe's massive bottom as either a creature of the deep, a man-made structure, or an unavoidable act of God."

Aged surprisingly well. The writing is solid and the characters fairly well developed. I may continue through the whole series after this one

About a year and a half since I read it for the first time, but I thought it was time for a re-read!

First story reads more like a prequel. A little clumsy, but some solid editing would make it a little better. 2 stars.

Finished Phoenix in Obsidian, 3 stars but barely. It's dark and has a lot more atmosphere than the previous novel, but it's a little disjointed and all over the place. The revelations about the Eternal Champion and the Multiverse are certainly helpful.
