i love fictional art within books (fake songs, movies, stories, etc) but it always saddens me because what do you mean i can’t read the books these characters are writing

i’ve started to realize that it’s at this point (the 60 to 80% mark) of the cute-fluffy-rom-com genre that they kinda lose me for a bit, even when i like the characters and all. not sure what to call it, the “everything’s too perfect, everyone’s good for each other, what am i reading this for?” point, i guess

i'm either right before the point where the plot is supposed to completely turn around OR all those reviews lied to me and have got me with my guard up for no reason (which would be funny, i admit)

maybe this is me placing expectations where they shouldn't be but isn't there going to be a single conflicting emotion in this entire book i feel like the plot is screaming for it and there's nothing!!
