Picked it up again.

The last 40 pages have been a bit…much - the plot has become more teenage angsty romance and less wondrous myths. It’s the same stuff found in so many YA books these days - and is annoying in its derivativeness. Hopefully the rest of the book would change a bit.

This is very well written - very gripping. The world and magic are intriguing. There’s some meandering in the plot (an indulgence of sorts) but it doesn’t bother me since I find the novel very fun.

Brilliant so far. I’m really enjoying the unique world, the magic system and the ancient Asian setting. It’s quite different from most fantasy, which tends to be more western in nature.

Reading this book is an absolutely enchanting experience.

Reading it this time around is a far more enjoyable experience compared to the first time!

Good stuff so far

Restarted. This book flies by fast.

It seems interesting so far but Middlegame felt just way too cinematic (cutting in between the story and the fairy tale scenes) whereas this one is less so. The story still feels intriguing. The book could use more editing though (I found a couple of grammatical errors).

I’ve been reading it really slowly but this is a highly entertaining book - funny and highly emotional at the same time.

Started an Er Gen novel! The beginning is slow (as usual). The translation quality is ok - not at Deathblade level (lot of confusion early on about stuff which will likely resolve as the novel continues). It does have great moments in the typical Er Gen style.

This is so funny
