Overall this book feels too much like "homework" to me though and my basic knowledge is lacking to get the most out of the employment / resource taxation sections.

Cont. from last comment. Makes you feel depressed about the state of things in Australia but I need to remind myself that we are looking at 2 very privileged and affluent regions of the world here and both Australia and Scandinavia look incredible well after their citizens.

Chapter on improving child wellbeing was great - reminded me a lot of Annabel Crabb's book "the wife drought" also enjoyed the chapter on education. Would love to see a comparison Australian vs German education system.

Summary chapter 1: Scandinavia is amazing (I knew that already :) ). Summary chapter 2: unions (which is not an area of interest of mine). Looking forward to Sweden's success in reducing child poverty and increasing child wellbeing!

Cont. from previous post: There must be more than the bleakness always described in our western world! Her interview with the former Estonian president highlighted the spirit and desires of the people, I want to know more about that!

The history parts are the most fascinating sections. I now want to read a book highlighting the beautiful, human side of Russia. I am keen to explore this world way from our dominant (heavily influenced by America) view of the UDSSR.

Started off with 4star rating but the descriptions about the Icelandic landscape were far too extensive, would have needed a good edit this section. Section re Munich and Thule society was interesting. I wonder though - Is this the middle "slump" of the book? I have noticed that many books hook me at the beginning to then almost loose me in the middle..

Great audiobook. Finally learning about the man whose head has been in my living room for the past 3years :) born in Bonn! Also early 19th century people also thought music is going to shits haha. I love when you realise how similar people in the past were compared to us today!

Lots of inspiration for Norway :) just added another museum to my to do list! So far, great book that sits well alongside my growing Scandinavian knowledge.
