Her observations of everyday life are so sweet, savouring little sweet tastes of the ordinary which through her eyes becomes extraordinary. I love her way of writing, only thing I struggle with is the short story style/ collections of essays (being not a fan of short stories as I like to delve deep rather than skim the surface) but it might be worth exploring one of her other books.

Not my typical book at all! But it's surprisingly sweet and touching! It pays off venturing into the unknown and trying something new :)

Cont. from previous comment: This book is a great, easy introduction however next I want to read something by a modern Russian author (which is surprisingly difficult to find as not much Russian literature except for big names like Tolstoy get translated into English). I want to learn more about this country and its people- after all the Russians love their children too!

I love the personal stories- I've been meaning to learn more about the Russian people for a while. Only down side is the American author, I wish he'd simply respect people's views (as he said himself Russian and western ideas and culture are so different and struggle to understand each other) but I find him irritating as he clearly thinks America and western values are the greatest to be there on the planet.

Must finish. Must know what happens.!

Omg- page turner! I needed this - a light yet exciting read!

Too many names, too much detail. Will listen to the rest but half the book would be enough to get the general gist!

The Ghan is named after the AfGHAN cameliers - this highlights again how multicultural Australia is. Queensland and Northern Territory aerial service= Qantas!
