Chapter 3: great chapter about early European history!

Reading about the Teutoburger forest and how Herman the Etruscan kicked the Romans out of what is now Germany. Yep, that's my history :) so far, great book!

Clarification: the chapter on language development was amazing, the chapter on the spread and distribution of ancient languages was confusing to me

The chapter on language was confusing to me but the chapter on genocide is great! Once again I am grateful for the time and place I live in (despite ongoing problem even today). Fascinating to read about the different "blame the victim" justifications of genocide. This book was written before Iraq but I have a strong feeling that Noam Chomsky (who is on my reading list) will use the same arguments re Iraq war.

I do really like his ideas and some of the concepts are quite eye opening to me, still not loving his writing style but overall (with just over 50 pages to go) I think a worthy read.

Also, he's rude!

Cont. from previous comment: versus his actual use of fancy concepts all the time that I doubt are understandable by everyone, I seriously have no idea what he talks about at times and I am very aware that I am part of the educated elite) good ideas, style of execution - nope!

I like his ideas but his writing style gives me the s@&$ (especially his "I'm so down to earth and don't care about fancy concept and want my ideas to be freely available to everyone "
