From the curvatures of space-time and the proposed multitude of higher dimensions to the theorized "hot" nature of black holes, this first of Hawking's books is more than just a volume of educative material: it's a novel of philosophy, questioning but, more importantly, not discounting God the Creator and His role - or, perhaps, the role of the anthropoid principle - in the existence of the universe as we observe it.
