It's irritating to me that at least up until now, the examples have been toy examples. Certainly, a clear presentation of the concepts is necessary, but the *real* CSV grammar as described in RFC-4180 is more detailed, yet not unapproachably complex for an example like this. It would be so much more powerful to use small but real grammars in these examples.

Good pacing. I'm just at the beginning of Book II, and they've finished up their time at school. The timing is different than the show, where they stay in school perpetually, perhaps as a symptom of future-angst. I like this better: the looming uncertainty of graduation to someone who's mastered the mechanics of school. Moving from a structured environment to one of your own devising. Finding a purpose.

It's growing on me...

My impression of the book has been colored by seeing the television adaptation first. After the first few chapters, the interpersonal relationships are already richer and the environments more intriguing, but I've yet to be charmed. I do feel if I weren't already familiar with events from the show that Quentin's journey would seem less predictable. Enjoying catching up to where the show forked from this source.
