I have a feeling this book is going to wreck me.

I’m not sure why I’m doing this to myself after reading the To All The Boys I’ve Ever Loved series by Jenny Han back to back to back. This genre is not my cup of tea but there is nothing available at the library and I keep seeing ads for the movie... and the second book in the series won a Goodread. Broadening my horizons I guess?

I accidentally put the GERMAN version of this on hold. At the library rather than the English version. Why the fuuuuuuck does a SWFL library buy audiobooks in German?! Same thing happened when I tried to read 1984 lol. I wish they’d put that shit in bold or something.

At some point in my life I actually purchased a physical copy of this... I'm not sure why, but here we are. Let's all hope I don't regret this.

Booooooooring

This book is boring as fuck so far...

Much like how I felt about Leigh Bardugo’s take on Wonder Woman, this is surprisingly good so far. It’s all the things I like about Maas with none of her usual creepy sexual elements (yet lol).

Sage has reverted back to being a giant, super annoying pain in the ass in book 2.

Real talk - unlike the last book I started, I actually think this one will be a disappointment 😂

This book is like Mulan (🎶...we're gonna turn this sow's ear into a silk purse...🎶😂) and Miss Congeniality in some like regency espionage setting. I'm super into it, it's actually quite good so far.

There are so few redeeming qualities about this book, yet I trudge on...

Literally 30 seconds in I want to launch my phone into my office wall... This audiobook narrator's voice is horribly annoying.

Major suckage... Slow, boring, dry/flat characters and the audiobook narrators are so bad. DNF!

Oh, em, gee. This book has been good right from the start. Pleeeease let the rest of it not suck. The new character Bardugo brought in is all sorts of freakin' awesome.

Well, just on the point of abandonment (not before skipping many pages) this book went from a crawl to an all out sprint in a matter of five seconds. As they say, shit just got real.

I have the distinct feeling I won't finish this book. There is way too much meandering and not enough plot development.
