The book club has finished reading Pride and Prejudice. Most members had not read any Jane Austen before and they all liked the book, although some struggled to understand her use of language. We had an excellent leader, who knew the book thoroughly and elicited answers to his questions in a friendly way. this was my third or fourth reading and I still love it.

Lydia is married! The Bennett name is not tarnished. Elizabeth begins to comprehend that Darcy is a man she can love.

Blech. I could not find any of the characters worth caring about, not even enough to dislike them. The writing was pretentious with far too much description of uninteresting things and goings-on. page 59. The End.

Book club finished Volume 1 on 12/3/14. On the 12th we spent the hour discussing Chapter 24, in which Lizzy and Jane have a spirited discussion about men, relationships, and how differently Jane and Lizzy understand people. One more December meeting.

slow moving; protagonist not very interesting. His thinking is shallow and incomplete. I read on reluctantly, hoping for something interesting.

Read about 15%. Bored. Quit.

This will just have to wait a while longer.

I read some, gagged, put it down. After some time and reading good reviews, I tried again. made it to 38% on Kindle. Still don't like it. Not funny and choppy and messy grammar. I'm done. Blech!

a fun read. Good story/mystery with humor and both likeable and unlikeable characters.

Enjoyed this novel by Jackie Townsend. Complex characters and crisp writing. Almost Jane Austen's style, that is to say, little in the way of descriptions. The characters, Jamie and Jack/Giacomo, were the focus. Five stars.

Really liked it!

Actually, the writing is a) choppy, b) adjective over-dosed, and c) laden with initials of military terms and organizations. Did not engage me enough to care about any character. cast it aside.

Read some reviews because I am wondering if I should continue. First, is he paid by the word? Who needs to know, in a thriller, that a character gets into a black SUV (make/model)? exact words not at hand, but everything is over described. It's the action that is wanting, Mr Hamilton. The jumps are not smoothly transitioned...oh, I could go on. I can't even decide if I like, dislike, or fear a character.

Love it! Read his takes on Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice. Mansfield Park coming up!

Love this book but hampered by recent carpal tunnel surgery in right hand. Can't wait for the total recovery so I can start the drawing practice.
