White people will be angry reading this. And good, really. Because we live in this bubble of privilage and most of us don't even see it.

“Then let’s put this on a practical basis right now. Do you want Negroes by the carload in our schools and churches and theaters? Do you want them in our world?”

How many people will be disgusted by this quote, not because it's wrong, but because a white guy we like said it.

Ok, so we are at the part where we see that Atticus is quite racist.

He isn't the character we know from to Kill a Mockingbird, but nor should he be. If this book had been written after I could understand the disappointment but it wasn't.

Hmm. Well it was always going to be different, and that's not even the issue. I just think there's something less...lively about it. I can see why she was asked to rewrite it from the perspective of Scout as a child.
