Nikolai was a bit eager with the marriage talk, but honestly Mal needs to stop acting like a child. This is a country that's at war, and Nikolai's suggestion is insensitive but does have merit.

Alina punching Nikolai is such a power move and I love it.

Mal is annoying. The Darkling is creepy. I like Alina and Genya.

And now I continue to the boring middle part of this book. Maybe boring isn't exactly fair, but it's definitely a drag compared to her other books.

Lauren Fortgang is such a superior narrator I love her.

Also I forgot how sarcastic and a little mean Alina can be and I love her for it.

Of course the one Asian character doesn't speak English well and the author has written their dialogue like they think they would sound. Fucking christ why are people like this.

Welcome to things would have worked out so much earlier if the adults would only tell the children what was going on. Obviously I still love this book but reading it as an adult is a different experience.

Truly this is the year of reading childhood favourites.

Wilma's mother and sisters are awful, her dad is a complete pushover, and Wilma is amazing. Glad to discover I still love this book.

So do I read The Infernal Devices first or start with The Mortal Instruments and then go back in time? Someone help. Yes it's true I have never read them I'm sorry.

Pretty heavy subject matter, but this book is unbelievably cute and I love it.
