Into Volume 3...surprisingly, this book packs a lot of action. You know, of the aristocratic kind :)

Austen 's style has changed, as if she chooses to focus more on content rather than wit. She's retained her signature tone but she's matured stylistically.

Now comes the story. Mr. Hugo, are confident in how you've prepared me? Oh, my apologies...I think some sarcasm may have sprayed you in the face...

Hugo spends so much time preparing his story, I still feel like it has yet to start.

Thank goodness I've finished that intro section. I love Hugo but he has his boring sections which the reader bears wearily.

"The Balloon-Hoax" - Thematically similar to Hans Pfall, this piece ridicules people's blind faith and hope in science as the savior of the future. Poe integrates plenty of scientific discourse, which ironically exposes the public's inept knowledge of science but also their unwavering trust in anything labeled as scientific.

I have often been guilty of "reading too much" into things, but I'm considering how his insights can apply to so many other social dynamics.
