"Von Kempelen and His Discovery" - Well, guess I'll rethink manufacturing gold. Or a trillion dollar coin :)

"The Balloon-Hoax" - Thematically similar to Hans Pfall, this piece ridicules people's blind faith and hope in science as the savior of the future. Poe integrates plenty of scientific discourse, which ironically exposes the public's inept knowledge of science but also their unwavering trust in anything labeled as scientific.

"The Gold-Bug" - The most scholarly treasure hunt story I've read with all the anticipation, mystery and suspense for good drama.

"The Unparalleled Adventure of One Hans Pfaall" - I did not expect this from Poe. He obviously possesses a brilliant mind for all manners of study but maintains an analytical and wildly creative perspective.
