So far not much cheese, or romance. Thankfully., because that would be fassstt. The language is super easy to read, no fancy prose, or beautifully illustrated landscapes painted with words. The pacing moves quickly and the story is fun. Nothing mind blowing.. just typical post apocalyptic survival stuff. But I really do love the schizophrenic mother.. and her story intrigues me.

Paused for another book in between. I had just finished the first of this.. plus a different book by the same author.. and I didn’t want to get Author burn out.. still like what I’ve read so far.. just waiting til I finish a book or two in between by different authors.

Better than I was expecting.. at least this far into the book. I’m really digging the post apocalyptic survival vibe with wheelchair bound sister and schizophrenic mommy. This could still go a cheese ball direction.. but I like a good enemies to lovers type trope.. and if the cards are played right… This one could turn out pretty good. /shrug.

Really Cheesy cover art. The story is a little cheesy too. But not nearly as bad as some other books I’ve dipped into recently. The main character struggling with what is real and what is imagined is nice. It has a cringe-y highschool teen vibe… it would make a horrible movie, but not so bad as a book. I’ll probably not recommend this book for most of my friends.. just a select few who like this sort of thing.

So far it’s fantastic. Dark and clever, and for people like me who always cheer for the “villains” or morally grey characters in stories… it’s everything I could have hoped for.
