I love the opportunity to learn more about Padme and Sabé. They were both underdeveloped characters in the movies. It's understandable for Sabé, and it's not uncommon for side characters to develop a more interesting personality and backstory in a franchise's extended universe. However, I think it was less excusable for Padmé, who was so fundamentally important to the prequels. The Clone Wars show helped to amend it.

I'm fascinated - Elizabeth has only just received Darcy's letter in chapter 36, but in every adaption that usually marks the 3/4 mark of the story, not the middle! Perhaps I'm mistaken and think it usually takes place later than it actually does...

The author tells too much when she should be showing.

I'm having a tough time with the protagonists. First, they don't feel super differentiated. Like, they have the personality traits as far as the author has described, but their dialogues read as largely the same. Second, they all are really self dismissive. They're all like 'oh why am I being so bitchy?' and other such things where they're really mean to themselves in their internal thoughts. Real pick-me girls

Definitely coming around on it. Still a little on the nose at times, and the author seems to trust the reader to read between the lines sometimes, but sometimes doesn't and adds a lot of context. Still though, fun and light so far.
