I have never seen the True Blood TV show, so this is all pretty fresh to me. A bit predictable so far so I hope for a nice twist somewhere further on.

On the home stretch now :)

Weird coincidence here. This is the second book in a row that has mentioned the town of Cairo, IL (pronounced Kay-roe). I had never even heard of it before reading American Gods and now this book too.

At last, the aliens have landed! I was getting bored reading about military organization and acronyms. It's about time the action started.

The two timelines are finally merging together. I think I am going to refer to this as 'the book that ate my summer'.

Getting close to the half way point and the different parts of the story are slowly beginning to come together.

So far this is turning out to be a very unusual read.

All those military acronyms drive me nuts.

Almost a third of the way into this doorstop and as with other Stephenson books, the story is only now beginning to unfold.

A massive book with small print. This is going to take me a while.

This should keep me busy for a month or two:)

Playing catch up with a Pulp-Fiction group read from a few months back.

This is turning out to be pretty original.

Puppy sitting at the moment so I cannot read anything without being interrupted every 10 minutes :) This sort of book works great for that.

Reading this for my Pulp Fiction book group. It's so nice to read a stand alone book of only 200 pages. All story and no fluff :)

I would never have guessed that Robinson Crusoe was on a voyage to buy slaves when he was shipwrecked. Surprised that The Ministry of Truth (NAACP & US Government) haven't 'revised' this classic.

A third of the way in and I am not finding much of interest in this book. I am not a big fan of 'journal' type novels, Dracula being the only exception, so that is probably part of the reason.

Received this classic as a free audio book from Downpour.com. Fits nicely into my classics category :)

Finally managed to get the correct version selected in GR :) With the one I had selected before p320 was beyond the end of the book.

Guilty pleasure here - audio book play with Stacy Keach as Mike Hammer. A win-win for me :)

I think the background of reading other Culture novels is making this all the more enjoyable the second time around.

So far this is proving historically accurate and I am liking the storytelling style very much.

One man sails a schooner by himself...? I don't think so.

A reread for me as part of the Sword and Laser renegade read.
