Really enjoying the content, structure and tone. Very interesting stuff that could be quite dry, but it's very engaging!

Nearly finished, with the main content anyway, and it's been interesting, but definitely not quite what I expected. I think it would be a great read for someone a little less far along the path that I am!

The fourth essay is a wonderful, albeit brief, look at the place of the home in the body of Christ. It challenges us on the shallow depth of much modern faith, where it is "shoved to the margins of life". I've added the book that it is drawn from to my reading list!

Not sure this book is aimed at me. Seems aimed at teenage girls, although the inclusion of a swear word makes me wonder at that, too. Engaging so far, though, at least

I'm only reading an essay at a time, to give each it's own space and time to digest. Blumhardt's essay could well have been written from my own heart, except what I always thought of as the solution was a closer feeling "spiritual community" which he states isn't enough of a solution and never lasts. Interesting stuff to ponder, and this is just the start of the book!

Having presumably read through these before originally becoming a soldier in 2001, this second reading through has been a revelation. I wonder how many other soldiers do not regularly read these? I also wonder whether the most recent reprints have lost any of the zeal and clarity of this vintage?
