True in 1963. Still true in 2025.

"“Examining thoughts and ideas that can impact your life is the whole point of reading, especially a book like this.” They are talking about 'The Feminine Mystique'.

No wonder people don't like reading or get so defensive and angry about their choices. Opening your mind means baring your soul.

‘Earth And Evolution Walk Into A Bar’ is a cool title and the story is full of cool lines. But at this point the book is starting to feel like a one mare.

‘The Demon Hunter’s Dilemma’ is strictly okay. Interesting characters that could have really gone somewhere but awkward dialogue and too much narration made this less than stellar.

‘Unframed’ will be my favourite short story for a long time. It touches on a part of this city’s history that I have lived through and which still burns alive inside me.

‘Interval’ was oddly uplifting.

Just finished ‘Rulebook for creating the universe’. It’s glorious. And more important, it read me.

The absolute hatred of feeling too seen, rubbed too raw by the book. Of course, the author would be an MFA. I felt this with the last two books I loved too.

I am hating this chapter, hating the inclusion of this character, Eleanor.

I take it back. It is intriguing. Like the book meant to start like how fairytales used to and will now show me the mess beyond.

The book is a bit distracting in how much it’s making me roll my eyes. The problematic approach to gender & race, for starters. Then the 2000s (bad era) romcom style setup. But I lived through that time and it did seem great then. Maybe that’s the thing I don’t like - recognising my younger self.
