I was not expecting to like this book. I experience so much pointless male hatred towards women and most of ‘great literature’ seems to be just glorifying that. I don’t even like Murakami’s work. But this collection is special. ‘An independent organ’ feels so loving even while it projects male heartbreak onto a woman. It feels easy to switch out genders & consider it the human condition.

Who’s going to judge me if I say I’m just one chapter down and it’s super trashy and I’m enjoying it?
