I had forgotten Sharanya’s exquisite seduction and bleeding in words.

Realising this series should have been required reading in Indian schools. For the same reason, it’s as heavy as a textbook and lacks fun. A lot of (good) narration, very little dialogue or immediate action.

What a wonderful story. And ending with a recipe that even I can make - easy omelette sandwich, Japanese style.

This book is probably more like ‘Before the Coffee Gets Cold’ than I first realised. Maybe I’m just finding it in the right mood so it feels right.

This is getting tiresome now. It doesn’t have the same pace as RK Narayan’s more popular works like The Guide or Malgudi Days. But that makes it a peaceful read.
