The absolute hatred of feeling too seen, rubbed too raw by the book. Of course, the author would be an MFA. I felt this with the last two books I loved too.

I am hating this chapter, hating the inclusion of this character, Eleanor.

I take it back. It is intriguing. Like the book meant to start like how fairytales used to and will now show me the mess beyond.

The book is a bit distracting in how much it’s making me roll my eyes. The problematic approach to gender & race, for starters. Then the 2000s (bad era) romcom style setup. But I lived through that time and it did seem great then. Maybe that’s the thing I don’t like - recognising my younger self.
