i think i would enjoy an entire book that is just him narrating taking trains to places

this is the coldest take on HM but honestly i appreciate how broken his (male) characters usually are. even though they have usually have successful careers and bizarre sex lives, they're often divorced or in a dead marriage or listless, they all have debilitating vices or anxieties. everyone's just really low-grade unhappy and sadly that feels real

hopefully this history will turn more optimistic but it's actually depressing that we're fighting exactly the same battles 1 0 0 years later. bikes lanes are the exception, seeing biking as a hoity toity upper class men's sport, people on city bikes are seen as either poor or just fooling around, helmet culture is all wrong (they are not the same things as seatbelts), and on and on

i like the word 'honest' used to describe buildings or city parts. skyscrapers are honest, but fake tree cell phone towers are not honest. mansard roofs are not honest, and flags that are too "honest" are probably bad flags.
