I’m enjoying it and making slow progress

Enjoyable, but the I didn’t bond with the heroine. I did admire her commitment to the dog.

This series never fails to surprise; never disappoints. Jefferson Mays hits it outta the park!

It's a slow, detailed historical novel. I'll finish it, but I will never reread it. As with some historical fiction, i spend much time wanting to shake or smack the characters into awareness. Must be the disconnect between Modern Me and 14th century characters.

Richard Sharpe is growing into a respected officer and leader of men, but still has enough rough edges to be fascinating. I've enjoyed his adventures in India with Wellington's army.

So far, I'm enjoying it. The series was recommended to me because of my love of Bujold's Vorkosigan series.
