Man. I sometimes forget how much better children's books were in the mid-to-late 20th century, then I read a John Bellairs or something like this (in which a starving wolf breaks into their train car so a little girl has to watch the old man she's traveling next to stab the wolf to death with a shard of broken glass, then offer her his gore-soaked coat to keep her warm).

The "bad guys" are doctors trying to cure all disabilities? This reminds me of the big push by lesbians to prevent treatment of PCOS b/c there appears to be a substantial correlation between developing PCOS and becoming a lesbian -- as in 70-80% of lesbians have PCOS & only come out after developing it & treating PCOS can cause many to becomes straight. So they were calling treatment of PCOS a "Lesbian Genocide."

Bland art. Bad writing. Boring plot. Awful alternate YA take on a great character.

I've been thrilled to have it back, and this may be the first time the series has ever made me laugh out loud. But that opening is just...painful. I feel worse for this girl than I did for Denji, weirdly enough.

I am trying to figure out how I feel about this manga. I definitely don't hate it, but I don't know how I feel beyond that.

This commits one of what I consider the cardinal sins of manga & comics -- tons of text bubbles all over the action scenes. And the text is mostly pointless babbling.

Hoffer's work is, he admits partway through, purely a collection of his thoughts & opinions...but unfortunately he PRESENTS it all as fact & riddles it with sophistry. Though I find it amusing that his description of the difference between the Abjectly Poor vs. the New Poor hinges (unwittingly, i suspect) on the New Poor basically being like spoiled children denied dessert one night a year. XD
