Brian M is on page 40 of 144 of All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries, #1)
It’s been long enough since reading this that I have forgotten so many of the key details. I want to proceed with the series, so I’m back and just as delighted at the perfect premise: robot who’s occupation is murder has social anxiety and a love of soap operas.

Interesting book if quite a bit more basic than I was looking for.

I'm in deep because this book has me reading blogposts on medieval travel, and the Venerable Bede's Ecclesiastical History of the English Nation like I'm not on winter break in Graduate School

Brian M is on page 144 of 352 of The Immortal Game: A History of Chess, or How 32 Carved Pieces on a Board Illuminated Our Understanding of War, Art, Science and the Human Brain
Mildly annoyed at the ā€œchess causes mental illnessā€ nonsense. ā€œThe game’s close association with a particular variety of mental illness suggests that something particularly destructive may lurk beneath the surface for some players.ā€ C’mon man. Using high profile cases over the game’s thousands of years of existence is suspect when the same problems are true of composers, artists, other athletes, etc.
