First time Salvatore overtly writes D&D mechanics into the narrative. Like a barbarian charging a verbieg and taking a club hit knowing its charge would diminish it

Great villain! A wizard turned Lich. The voice acting is also great. Lots of action going down in Luskan. Starts out by going over the Orc and Dwarven truce.

I heard this book ripped off all of BJ Foggs ideas, which makes me want to not keep going and read the other one

Re starting this one

I’m now realizing that I need a dose of mystery and weird phenomena to go with my hard sci-fi stories. I only care about one character in this book and while the world building is impressive, I don’t find myself wanting to get back to this story.

A whodunit mystery has been introduced to the book. Eyebrow raise.

I need this story to be great because compared to Raymond Chandler’s descriptions and humor, this is woefully lacking. Supernatural police presence procedurals may not be my thing.
