Really not enjoying this so far, Crouch's writing style is about as minimalist and bland as it gets, and the book could be saved from being tedious if the plot setup was not so generic. Also, the shallow attempts at sketching real pain and emotion are hard not to cringe at, either Crouch has never actually experienced the kind of loss he's trying to write (in which case "write what you know") or he's just untalented.
