Fun listening to synapses of famous philosophical works while driving in the car. Too bad I usually only drive for 20 minutes at a time.

Just started tackling this overdue read. I really want to answer the God question, "Does God exist?" I don't possibly see how he could, and I don't want to escape into the noncommital agnosticism. The best thing I've read yet: Atheists don't believe in God because of the lack of evidence for such a belief. Yeah, it's that good.

Very well written so far. Rebecca Solnit level. This guy was an academic, but he cultivated a good writing style. He describes Muir by telling the history of those people and things most connected to him. For example, he talks a lot about Muir's father, Daniel, and shows how he became such a dominant influence in Muir's life. It also helps the reader understand what kind of world Muir lived in. Well done.

Convinced the library to give me another renewal. This is a good book about the sad life of a genius.

Michael is reading The Republic and Other Works
I've started with the dialogues around Socrates' trial, imprisonment, and death. Very good and interesting; it's really literature, although in Phaedo he really lays on the philosophy thick; I can see why this is considered philosophy and not literature.

My book reading has stalled for now. I'm hardly reading anything except my own journals. Any ideas?

Awesome. Totally enthralling. Could hardly put it down. I have finally read the biography of the author of the Bible.
