I just adore Hobb's writing.

This book is fantastic

There's a plot device she's used at least a half dozen times in this series that has really grown old. Kind of lukewarm on this one.

A compelling read - I put down 283 pages yesterday!

This one is off to a tremendous start.

Disappointing start to this one - the narrative is bouncing around and there's not much plot momentum OR meaningful character work to make it compelling.

Should finish this one tomorrow.

I'm really enjoying this.

Enjoying the Aomame chapters more than the Tengo chapters.

I think my main issue with the novels in this series are that the characters are so wooden. When the story follows a character fully fleshed out (like Geralt), it's so much more interesting and compelling than many of the nameless, interchangeable minor characters that clutter the text.

That said, I'me liking this one the most of the three novels. At least so far.

I forgot how harsh Bean's backstory was.

As this has felt like a sequel to the Farseer Trilogy, it's been fun seeing some characters from the Liveship Traders Trilogy come into the story.
