I'm liking this better the 2nd time around, more invested in what's going on

Theres certainly some beautiful writing going on, however, the book's lack of a driving story is its undoing. It's a shame, because I'd thoroughly enjoy this if it all didn't feel so esoteric and core-less.

is starting
Little, Big
Back on this big one again. I have a month to return it to the library so I better get crackin'. I seem to remember wondering to myself what the point to the beginning of the book was (back when I'd first attempted to read it last year), so hopefully I can stick with it long enough to find out this time.

End of Part 1. Nicely contained so far, I am left desiring more information and character interactions.

Reminds me somewhat of
"The People of Sand and Slag"
and the Fallout series. Helps get the brain juices flowing for my own sci-fi story--always a plus when a book does that.

Very compelling narration thus far, I can see some of Trenton Lee Stewart's influence in a good way. Main char's got a good amount of vibrancy. I would've liked to read this as a 12-year-old, too :P Will eagerly continue.

At last,
The End
of The End is in sight. Sure feels nostalgic to get to this point again after so many years away from the series.

It's not often that one comes across a fantasy of this caliber. Maybe I'm biased? This is my kinda stuff: truly bizarre, and weaving together its story through methodical chaos, the prologue and Chapter 1 must only be a sliver of things to come, yet they've developed a presentiment so well.
Plus, there's just something inherently exciting about an eloquent, lone random dude with a bow seeking some mythical forest.

The little music flays...the essence of melancholy has been unearthed by Joe, and translated in a fashion that is genuine to the utmost.

Neat stuff but still lacking a tighter core, and there are too many wasted words. TLS is best at character interactions, and this time they're done better, albeit there are a lot of Mary Sues. Intentional?

Underwhelming and overwritten up to this point, however the watch's effect and Genevieve's character added a good spark that makes me want to continue on. I'm hopeful that this won't be another "The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict" repeat (in terms of dullness).

Stunning work that I have yet to tire of. It's made me realize that I'm a bigger fan of past writing styles than I'd thought.
